Norbulingka Institute's Centre for Arts Woodwork/Carpentry
The workers in the carpentry section make all the furniture seen at the Institute. With the completion of the main buildings in November 1995, the carpenters began adapting Tibetan designs create marketable products such as finely crafted desk and home accessories. The carpenters' role as builders in Tibet gives them unique knowledge of the structure of Tibetan buildings. This knowledge is now being put to use in the making of architecturally correct dolls' houses.
