Based on the book of the same name by Helena Norberg-Hodge. This documentary focuses on the culture of Ladakh, an ancient Tibetan Buddhist kingdom located in the Himalayas of Northern India and the struggle to maintain a traditional and ecological way of life in the face of impending modern development. Escape from Tibet, Nick Gray, 1995

Home to Tibet, Alan Dater and Lisa Merton, Marlboro Productions, 1995, 55 minutes.
The story of a Tibetan exile living in the United States who returns to Tibet, years after escaping persecution at a Tibetan monastery. The documentary follows the stonemason from his home in Massachusetts to Lhasa where he visits his sister and family, then leaves Tibet with his niece who he takes to study in India. The Jew and the Lotus, Namas Frankl
The film revolves around a request by the Dalai Lama for Jewish survivors of the Holocaust to meet with him to discuss their lives in exile. The narrative explores the poignant insights of one of the Jewish participants and his own epiphany from tragic personal loss to spiritual understanding and compassion. Based on the novel by Rodger Kamenentz.

Missing In Tibet, Garthwait & Griffin, 1997, 30 minutes
Tibet-born exile, Fulbright scholar and ethnomusicologiest Ngawang Choephel travels to Tibet to document traditional Tibetan music and dance. His life story is interwoven with actual footage he shot and sent out before he was arrested by the Chinese authorities for his research. Narrated by Goldie Hawn and Peter Coyote.

Mustang: The Hidden Kingdom, Discovery Channel, 1994, 90 minutes
Documents 1993 pilgrimage of a high Tibetan lama from Dharamsala, India sent by the Dalai Lama to the Kingdom of Mustang - one of the last outposts of ancient Tibet. Part of the purpose of this trip is to find two young children to bring back to Dharamsala to school at the Tibetan Children's Village. Beautiful cinematography and wonderful encounters that celebrate tradition Tibetan life.

This film is a compassionate interview between British pop singer, Annie Lennox and the Venerable Palden Gyatso, who suffered 33 years of imprisonment and torture in Chinese prisons. My Gyatso states that the campaigning of organization like Amnesty Intl. made a real difference to him and other like him.

Documentary look at the culture and lifestyle of the Tibetan people as they exist under the oppressive shadow of Red Chinese. Filmed in Tibet by three time Emmy award winning filmmaker William Bacon, the film juxtaposes the struggle to maintain Tibetan religious traditions with the encroaching modernization of the culture.

Windhorse, Paul Wagner, 1998 97 minutes
"Windhorse" tells the story of an aspiring Tibetan pop singer who wins favor with the Chinese government of occupied Tibet but reconsiders her career when her cousin, a Buddhist nun, is imprisoned and tortured for her religious beliefs.
